The Spring-Summer catwalks have seen an explosion of everything denim, from Chloe to Ralph Lauren and Herve Leger… Denim no longer means a pair of jeans! Will you embrace the Double Denim trend?

The denim jean has been a cornerstone of fashion since the early Twentieth Century. From the cowboy styling emergent in the 1930s to the popularised bell-bottoms of the 1970s… denim jeans have transitioned with the endless innovations throughout fashion’s decades.

This season, the international catwalks have burst forth with a whole new level of denim wears for Spring/Summer 2010… and it isn’t just jeans the models are showcasing!

The phrase “Double Denim” has been a serious taboo amongst fashion wardrobes for a good decade, or at least since Jeremy Scott’s trend of denim-on-denim in the nineties died down... But now it’s these two words that are all over fashionistas lips for this year’s spring-summer looks.

Chloe is doing denim pants and shirts, Ralph Lauren dungarees, Herve Leger the denim skin-tight mini dress, Jeremy Scott reinvents the denim skirt, and Jerome Rosseau beholds the denim boot… so take your pick of denim this season, denim denim demin!

Despite the catwalk mania, there are still a few faux pars when wearing denim for the everyday. For example, while denim on denim is in, it looks best when you pair a dark item with a lighter item… Why not try a dark denim jacket with some light acid wash jeans? And denim shoes and accessories are best worn, without double denim clothes… a la 1990s Britney and Justin.
