Paris Does it Better
Paris Fashion Week is home to the most esteemed fashion designers in the international pecking order. This year's Ready to Wear catwalks for the 2011-2012 Spring Summer season, proved just why Paris is the best. Karl Langerfeld's Chanel collection was once grabbed rave reviews, amidst a recreation of Versaille's renaissance gardens inside the giant Grand Palais. The fashion week also has it share of press-grabbing attention, with Jean Paul Gaultier sending the voluptous singer Beth Ditto down the runway to open his rock themed extravaganza, while pregnant glowing Aussie model Miranda Kerr walked for Balenciaga.
While the share of media stunts ensued, including Jean Paul Gaultier's farewell show for Hermès which saw dessage horses performing under chandeliers, fashion talent wa sin abundance. From the deconstructed outfits at Chanel, with frayed edges and giving the Chanel brand an innovative twist, to Yves Saint Laurent's creative director Stefano Pilati taking tailoring to an immeccable new level in women's fashion. John Galliano's collection also proved theatrically brilliant with an ode to seductive boudoir.

It was also the highly anticipated first collection of the new creative director of the Alexander McQueen brand, whose founder passed away earlier in 2010. Sarah Burton carried on the McQueen legacy, showing bright flair in her catwalk collection.
