Live at Palette Fashion Show Sydney 2010
The day of Palette Fashion activities began with the boom boxes, a white gown clad violinist and an array of up and coming Australian designers. Exhibiting Wayne Cooper’s minimalist knitwear range Fear, then jumping to Audrey Hepburn inspired bejewelled outfits at Anaessia, and dominatrix leather creations from Tovah- the crowds were certainly in for a diverse range of fashion looks! Packed in to the picture perfect OPT theatre in Circular Quay, and resident home to Rosemount Australian Fashion Week, fashion-lovers could have a slice of the glamorous industry.
With a flurry of bold accessories, from chunky jewelled necklaces set for the queen, to black masks and frilly neck collars for the boys, the first Fashion Palette show certainly raised a few brows as it kicked off on October 8th 2010.
Though pitched to a public consumer audience, the upcoming designers clearly had an eye for theatricality. Stands outs amidst the more quirky pieces from show designers Anessia, Nomiki Glynatsis Couture, Tovah, Bannu, Balthaczar and Wayne Cooper, were a return to circle skirts, red cocktail dresses and sheer lace. The leather cut-out numbers my have proved a bit much for some, however Palette certainly showcased the versatility of the Australian fashion industry.
